Principals Overview

Tawa College's motto is Do Justly.

The large majority at the College "Do Justly" and do the best that they can in all that they do, and I gain a large measure of satisfaction from witnessing the personal growth of these quality students. The College continues to be in good heart. As the Principal I am proud of the achievements of our students, whether it be academically, culturally, socially or sportswise. Tawa College students participate wholeheartedly in all that the school offers. Students here enjoy coming to school. The Education Review Office (ERO) Report published in October 2012 was full of praise for the College. It is excellent to receive such positive endorsement from an objective source.

The major focus of this school is learning and teaching. Students are here at College to gain the best results and qualifications possible. In recent years our NCEA marks have been considerably higher than the national average, as have our number of merit and excellence endorsements. One of the features of the school noted by ERO is a calm and respectful atmosphere which prevails school-wide.

The College has an excellent staff who are always ready to go the extra mile for the students. We enjoy wonderful community support. I am thankful for the ways in which parents, caregivers, ex-students and members of the wider Tawa community show an interest in what is going on at the College.

I trust that you and your family will take the time to consider Tawa College. I believe the college offers a balanced education that is nationally recognized. The participation rate in College sport has been the highest of any coeducational school in the Wellington area. Our achievements in Sport in 2012 were very pleasing, and our Music and other Cultural groups also perform and achieve at the highest level.

I would be pleased to meet you personally if you would like to talk further about the College. It would be a pleasure to show you around the school. I look forward to getting to know many of you in the years ahead.

Sincerely

Murray Lucas

Principal
